A Facebook post has been circulating, alleging several elementary schools are set to close in St. Landry Parish, but a spokeswoman for the school board tells KATC no plans have been set as of yet.

The spokeswoman said, "The St. Landry Parish School Board was most recently presented with the facilities assessment plan and demographic study. The board and superintendent have discussed and are looking at how best to utilize the $99 million bond funds if and when the bond proposal passes March 24, 2018."

She says the intent is to build as many new buildings in the school district with the allocated funds.

"No decisions have been made at this time regarding any school closures or consolidation. The St. Landry Parish School District will have a series of town hall meetings in the coming weeks to get input from the public and school staff prior to any decision that is made regarding the closure of any schools," the spokeswoman adds.
