Louisiana State Police has identified the suspect in yesterday’s officer-involved shooting as 33 year- old Bryan Britnell of Eunice.

The incident began at about noon when Eunice Police were called to a domestic disturbance at a home near the intersection of South Ninth Street and West Park Avenue, a spokesman said.

Shortly after the officers arrived in the area, they stopped a car with the suspect inside, the spokesman said. At some point during the traffic stop, the suspect allegedly brandished a firearm. The suspect was shot by at least one police officer and was transported to the hospital. He remained hospitalized Friday afternoon.

The investigation is ongoing and there is no more information available at this time, he added.
