Donations sought to give deployed services members a happy holidays

Posted: Updated:

Louisiana soldiers and airmen in Afghanistan can celebrate Christmas this holiday thanks to donations from the community.

The Louisiana National Guard Enlisted Association is accepting donations to be ship to guardsmen overseas. The organization will serve as a direct link to the soldiers to ensure they get the supplies they need.

"Let them know that home misses you, and we're here for you, not only as your brothers and sisters in uniform but as a state as a whole. So what we'd like to do is send a piece of the state's heart to them," says Staff Sergeant Rebecca Bourke.

Right now soldiers need cold weather socks, during the summer they may want handheld fans. Monetary donations are also being accepted so that LANGEA can provide those active duty guardsmen with essential items

More information on how to donate can be found on the organization's website www.langea.org/support
