Students, parents participate in training

Posted: Updated:

A select group of 100 students from the four GEAR UP high schools (Acadiana, Carencro, Lafayette, & Northside) and their parents attended leadership training today at UL-Lafayette with the national training company Seeds.

The students started with a two-hour training at the union, and then their parents joined them for another training.

Seeds Training designs and delivers training programs that build life, leadership, and learning skills in students, teachers, and professionals around the world. They create powerful learning experiences by using methodologies such as brain-based learning, social and emotional learning, and experiential learning.

Founder & Executive Director of Seeds Training Greg Evans is an award-winning trainer, speaker, and storyteller. Since 1993, he has conducted the training in 16 countries.

"It really is very rewarding to see to see a lot of kids, who might not otherwise believe that they could even enter into a college after high school, begin to look at early preparation so that they're prepared, well-prepared, in doing what they need to do in order to get connected," said Traci Aucoin, Project Director for Lafayette GEAR UP.
