AcadianaCares celebrating World AIDs Day on Friday

Posted: Updated:

World AIDs Day has been celebrated on December 1st each year since 1988 and was the first global health day.

It's an opportunity for people worldwide to unite in the fight against HIV, to show support for people living with HIV, and to commemorate those who have died from an AIDS-related illness. Organizations across the world take it as an opportunity to promote HIV/AIDs research, testing, treatment and prevention.

Locally, AcadianaCares is kicking off a digital and outdoor outreach campaign to raise awareness about the testing, prevention and treatment options they offer. Between 10 am and 2 pm on Friday they'll have all of their doctors and healthcare providers on hand at their full-service clinic so that members of the community can walk in, meet the providers, get tested, and get information about PrEP (an HIV prevention method) or treatment options.

AcadianaCares office is located at 809 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
