Acadiana residents react to the nationwide accusations of sexual misconduct

Posted: Updated:

"Today Show" host, Matt Lauer was released by NBC on Wednesday after a complaint of inappropriate sexual behavior.

The head of NBC News says the complaint was the first against Lauer, but there's reason to believe the incident may not be the only one.

Lauer is the latest in a string of celebrities to lose their jobs following accusations of sexual misconduct.

KATC's Josh Meny went around Lafayette to get reactions from people in Acadiana regarding the ever-growing list of powerful men being accused of sexual misconduct nationwide in 2017.

This is what they had to say:

"I think the charges are too late, totally unsubstantiated, for the most part, look like they've been debunked," explained Henderson resident, Kaye Brouse

"What people fail to realize is a lot of victims don't come forward, so the fact that it's forty years later; I'm a veteran and I suffer from PTSD. Things trigger those things to happen. So, I think we should give the victims a chance, and listen to their story and investigate," explained Iraq Veteran & UL Lafayette psychology major, Paige Benjamin

"Video, audio, pictures, emails, bank statements; all this should be investigated," explained UL Lafayette mechanical engineering major, Jonathan Riley

"I know that when I was in the workforce at a young age, I had older guys come on to me, and you know maybe not the same situations, but this country is in such bad shape. We finally have someone that I think is helping our country, and they're gonna worry about politicians and their moral values? Where are you gonna find a person who has a 100% great morals?," Lafayette resident, Jeanie Domingeu

"I have eleven grandkids, and to come up in this world with all those sexual harassment allegations; I hate for them to come up that way," explained Lafayette resident, Rodney East
