New Christmas tradition heads to Broussard

Posted: Updated:

A new Christmas Tradition will light up the night in Broussard during the holiday season.

Wednesday, November 29, the city will hold it inaugural "lighting of the tree" ceremony in front of Broussard city hall. The ceremony, which will feature the lighting of a 25-foot tree, is being held to kick-off the Christmas season.

Local students will perform Christmas carols during the event and hot chocolate and cookie cake will be served to those who attend. Santa will also be on hand to take pictures.

The lighting ceremony will begin at 5:30 p.m.

City Officials say that throughout the season, they expect that both citizens and visitors to the city will use the tree as a backdrop for their holiday photos. They also hope the tree will be a beautiful addition to the city during the holidays.
