A 22-year-old Sulphur man was killed while crossing the interstate Tuesday night.

Officers of the Sulphur Police Department were dispatched to a vehicle-pedestrian accident on I-10 eastbound near mile marker 22, according to Chief Lewis Coats. Investigators say Andrew Brennan Thomas was struck by a vehicle traveling eastbound as he attempted to cross the interstate.

Thomas was transported to West Cal-Cam Hospital where he was pronounced dead, stated Coats.

This accident was the first vehicle pedestrian fatality of 2017 in the City of Sulphur.

The case remains under investigation.
