LAFAYETTE -

A long-standing hotel at Lafayette's Four Corners is up for sale.

The LessPay Motel went on the market about a week ago, said Dewitt David, the Van Eaton and Romero realtor leading the sale.

David said the hotel's been closed for about a year. It's listed for $725,000.

The hotel stands at the corner of University Avenue and Cameron Street, an area known as "Four Corners" that's been the target of a revitalization effort over the last few years.

Former Lafayette City-Parish President Joey Durel's administration had talked about buying the property to replace it with a police substation, but those plans stalled.

Mayor-President Joel Robideaux has said revitalizing that University Avenue "gateway" is one of his administration's top priorities.
