A Louisiana fishing show host has died after shooting himself in Thibodaux, police say.

Thibodaux Police Chief Brian Zeringue stated Monday morning at around 7:00 a.m., officers were responding to an incident at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center located on North Acadia Road. Police say a man, now identified as 49-year-old Anthony Fontenot of Shriever, shot himself in one of the public restrooms in the hospital.

Detectives say that Fontenot died from the self-inflicted gunshot wound from a small caliber weapon.

Fontenot was the executive producer and host of "Castin' Cajun" and "Cajun Home Improvements", two shows which aired on numerous channels in the South Louisiana area.

Fontenot is a native of Ville Platte Louisiana.
