A Jennings man has been arrested, accused of simple battery of a relative and threatening an officer.

Jeff Davis Parish Deputies were called out to the scene of a family disturbance Saturday November 25, 2017 at around 12:30 p.m. Upon arriving at the home in Jennings, deputies were told that the suspect, 35-year-old Fredrick Mixon of Jennings, had allegedly threatened his mother with a handgun while inside the home.

According to a release, the deputy who was outside of the residence was approached by Mixon who then allegedly made threats against the deputy. The deputy pulled out his taser and commanded that Mixon get on the ground but Mixon did not comply.

The deputy, according to the release, deployed the taser but it had no effect on Mixon. Officials say that Mixon continued to resist and allegedly punched the deputy during the struggle. Jennings Police arrived on scene to assist and were able to subdue Mixon with a taser.

Mixon has been booked into the Jefferson Davis Parish Jail.

An investigation into the disturbance report revealed that Mixon had allegedly also pushed his mother into a coffee table before deputies arrived. A 9mm semi-automatic handgun was located inside the residence. Mixon was reportedly under a protective order, which prevented him from possessing a firearm, as well as being a convicted felon.

  • Battery of a police officer
  • Resisting an officer
  • Aggravated assault with a firearm
