Volunteers needed to knit red hats for newborns

Posted: Updated:

The LHC Group and The American Heart Association are asking the community to begin knitting little red hats for babies. The project called Little Hats, Big Hearts is a way to help raise awareness for one of the main birth defects in newborns, heart disease.

The organizations need about 400 hats made in time for February when they will be given out to newborns at Lafayette Regional Medical Center, Iberia Medical Center, and Opelousas General. Hats will be needed before the February 1st.

Knitters and crocheters can go to heart.org/littlehatsbighearts for information on hat designs and specifications to begin. All hats must be red. Contact information for those with questions will also be available on the website.
