Former Chicago Bears linebacker, St. Landry Parish native John Thierry dies

Former Plaisance High School and Chicago Bears Football Star John Thierry died on Saturday due to a heart attack. He was 46.

The Bears announced Thierry's passing on Saturday with a statement saying "The Chicago Bears offer their deepest condolences on the passing of former linebacker John Theirry. Our thoughts and prayers go out to John and his family."

Theirry was the 11th overall pick in the 1994 NFL Draft by the Chicago Bears. Thierry also played for the Cleveland Browns, Atlanta Falcons, and Green Bay Packers throughout his professional career. He retired at the end of the 2002 season.

Thierry, a native of St. Landry Parish, died in Opelousas on November 24.
