After the airing of St. Landry Crime Stoppers, deputies say they have made an arrest of a habitual thief.

Deputies say that on November 15, 2017, St. Landry Crime Stoppers which airs on Wednesdays on KATC, featured an unidentified suspect shoplifting from the Dollar General in Opelousas. The night clerk at the store reported the incident says that the suspect fought with them in the story before leaving. Minutes after airing, the sheriff's office says that tips began coming into the hotline.

Detectives created a photo line up from the tips and Jimmie Lee Comeaux of Opelousas was positively identified by the store clerk, a press release states.

Earlier in the week, Comeaux was arrested on another shoplifting charge at another location and was booked into the parish jail. Detectives say that during an interview with Comeaux, he confessed to the theft and fight at the Dollar General.

"Comeaux has been arrested 23 times for theft and was charged with being a habitual offender," Sheriff's Bobby Guidroz stated on the crime.
