Ville Platte Police arrest two on theft charges

Ville Platte Police arrested two people in connection with thefts from a Tom Drive home, Chief Neal Lartigue said. 

Christopher Dan Aucoin 35, of 221 Hill Street, Eunice, was arrested without incident and booked into the Ville Platte City Jail charged with felony theft. Aucoin remain incarcerated in an $18,000.00 bond set by Judge Gary Ortego.

Jamie Carter, 37 of 1058 Andrus Lane, St. Landry was arrested without incident and booked into the Ville Platte City Jail charged with felony theft. Carter remains incarcerated in an $18,000.00 bond set by Judge Gary Ortego.

They're accused in connection with a November 14 incident. Police were called to the home and residents reported that many items were taken from the home including two televisions, two PlayStation gaming consoles, home stereo system, clothing, purses, shoes, cell phones, towels and wash cloths, jewelry box and multiple miscellaneous items. 

A witness reported a white man and a white woman removing items from the house and placing them in a white Ford pick-up truck. 

Detective Sergeant Steven Deville located the truck at a residence on Theophile Road.  After obtaining and executing a search warrant, most of the stolen items were located in the residence, truck and shed, the chief said. 

 While searching the shed for items the two suspects were discovered hiding behind a headboard that was stored in the shed, the chief said.

The two were arrested and the stolen items were returned to the owner, the chief said.
