A large iguana mysteriously showed up in a Baton Rouge neighborhood, leaving residents scratching their scales.

WBRZ reports that the large lizard was discovered by a woman who says she almost stepped on the nearly two and a half foot animal while in her backyard.

The neighbors were alerted and one even went door to door looking for the owner, but no one was found. According to WBRZ, neighbors think the lizard either escaped its enclosure or was dumped by its owner. One of the neighbors, if no one comes forward to claim the animal, will take it to LSU's vet school Tuesday morning to be properly cared for.
