IPSO: Wanted man leads officers on pursuit, crashes into home and patrol unit in New Iberia

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office has arrested a man wanted on probation and parole revocation after allegedly leading police on a vehicle pursuit in New Iberia. 

Iberia spokesman Wendell Raborn says that agents with the special investigation unit, on Friday, November 17, 2017, located 24-year-old Kenneth Landry Jr. who was wanted on probation and parole revocation warrant at around 11:30 a.m. Landry was seen driving his vehicle in New Iberia when officers tried to make a traffic stop. Landry allegedly refused to stop and led police on a pursuit through New Iberia. 

Deputies report that Landry then crashed his vehicle into a home on the 200 block of Ann Street and fled on foot. He was located a short time later and arrested. 

Agents say they recovered approximately 39 ounces (2.5 pounds) of marijuana and a loaded 45 caliber semi-automatic handgun.  An IPSO marked patrol unit crashed during the pursuit but there were no injuries.

Kenneth Landry Jr was booked into the Iberia Parish Jail on the following charges, no bond has been set: 

  • Probation and Parole warrant
  • Aggravated Flight                                          
  •  Resist Arrest by Flight                                                     
  • Aggravated Criminal Damage to Property                                               
  • Felon in Possession Firearm                                                       
  •  Firearm in the Presence of a Controlled Dangerous Substance                                   
  •  Firearm Free Zone violation                                                       
  •  Obstruction of Justice                                                  
  • (3) Possession with Intent to Distribute Schedule I (Marijuana)                                              
  • Controlled Dangerous Substance in a Drug-Free Zone                                 
  • Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (2 counts)                                   
  • Second or Subsequent Offense                                    
  • Attempted Manslaughter (2 counts)
