A Ferriday man has been arrested after an armed robbery Friday morning on Gayle Drive near Church Point.

According to Acadia Parish deputies, the incident occurred Friday morning at around 8:37 a.m. on the 100 block of Gayle Drive.

An investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as 39-year-old Jamarcus Emile Dion Duplechain of Ferriday, allegedly entered a residence armed with a shotgun. Investigators say that Duplechain held the residents, a woman and child,  at gunpoint. Duplechain took a phone and demanded other property form the residents. A third victim, who entered the home unaware of the robbery, was also held at gunpoint.

Sheriff Gibson says the victim was able to grab the gun and the two struggled. The victim, according to Gibson, was able to take control of the weapon. The victim was then able to injure Duplechain by striking him several times.

Duplechain was transported to a local hospital for his injuries and will be booked upon his being released from the hospital.

He will be charged with armed robbery and three counts of aggravated kidnapping.
