State Fire Marshal investigators say that a grandfather and his granddaughter died in a fire Wednesday night in Denham Springs. Two other occupants of the home were severely injured.

Fire crews were sent out to a fire on Curry Davis Dive in Denham Springs at around 11:30 p.m. to a residence on fire. Upon arrival, firefighters observed smoke coming from a window on the north side of the home. Two occupants were able to escape and were being attended by a neighbor in the front yard.

Officials say that after entering the structure, two bodies of 57-year-old Jesse Lowrance and his 6-year-old granddaughter Kenley Lowrance were found. The victims' bodies were released to the Livingston Parish Coroner for autopsy after being examined by investigators.

The two surviving occupants Deborah Lowrance and her 13-year-old granddaughter were transported to a Baton Rouge hospital for serious injuries. The 13-year-old was later transferred to University Health in Shreveport, LA.

Fire investigators say that no cause has been determined but investigators have determined that the fire originated in the living room of the home. There were no smoke alarms in the residence.

An investigation is ongoing.
