UPDATE: Jennings Police have booked a local man in connection with a high-speed chase that ended in Acadia Parish today.

A spokesman said that Kenneth Rudd, 42, was booked with aggravated flight from an officer and possession of a controlled substance into the Jeff Davis Parish Jail.

The chase began on Thursday when narcotics officers were doing surveillance on a West Division house that is known for drug activity, the spokesman said. The detectives allegedly witnessed the owner of the home, Rudd, engage in what appeared to be a drug transaction, the spokesman said.

Rudd then got into his car and left, he said.

Detectives asked patrol to stop Rudd, and when an officer pulled Rudd over, Rudd drove off when the officer got out of his car, the spokesman said.

Rudd was pursued by police into Acadia Parish, where the chase ended when Rudd crashed into a telephone pole, the spokesman said.

Rudd was transported to a local hospital to be checked out. He was cleared and booked into the Acadia Parish jail, the spokesman said.

Rudd then was transferred to the Jeff Davis Parish jail, where he remains with no bond yet set for his release.

No law enforcement officers were injured and no law enforcement vehicles were damaged in the chase, the spokesman said.
