A traffic stop by Calcasieu Parish deputies and the Combined Anti-Drug task force (C.A.T. Team)  has come up with over 200 pounds of cocaine worth an estimated $3,000,000.

In a press conference Wednesday, Calcasieu Sheriff Tony Mancuso stated that 45-year-old Stephane Baril of Quebec, Canada was arrested Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at around 11:00 a.m. during a traffic stop.  Baril who was stopped on I-10 for a traffic violation, consented to a search at which time officers found a large amount of powdered cocaine.

The task force says that 80 large bundles of compressed powdered cocaine totaling 219.5 pounds, with the estimated street value of over $3,000,000 were found in the vehicle.  The bundles were secured in multiple luggage bags in the bed of Baril's truck.

Officials say the individual was allegedly taking this cocaine to be processed into crack cocaine and other substances. They do not know where the drugs were being trafficked to.

Baril was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center and charged with possession of CDS II (Cocaine) over 400 grams.  A bond has not yet been set.
