A Morgan City teen is recovering after falling through a building on located on Front Street.

The teen, identified by a family member as Jayden Perez, was seriously injured during the fall and was taken to a hospital in Baton Rouge for treatment. In a Facebook post on Wednesday morning, Jayden's sister Sabrina Berthelot gave an update on his condition saying Jayden had broken both of his arms and his jaw in the fall. Jayden's father, Kenneth Perez, says the teen fell through the roof of the building after climbing to the top.

Jayden's family has received several messages of support and Berthelot tells KATC that the family "thanks everyone from the bottom of our hearts for the prayers. We really appreciate it."

Another post made earlier today by Berthelot explained that Jayden had surgery on both of his arms and that he would have surgery on his jaw tomorrow.

The incident occurred around 6:00 or 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 14 at the old water plant located on Front Street in Morgan City. The water plant is on city property.

A police spokesperson said that several juveniles, in their early teens, climbed to the top of the building when one teen fell from the roof of the building resulting in serious injuries.
