BALDWIN, La. -

The boil water advisory has been extended for the town of Baldwin as crews work to repair a section of the distribution line under Main Street (Highway 182).  The town will remain without water service until the work has been completed.

As a result of the lack of water service, Raintree Elementary in Baldwin will be closed today.

The water advisory was issued Tuesday, November 14.

________________________

Tuesday, November 14 -- The town of Baldwin has issued a boil water advisory. A main water line had to be repaired, and as a result, the water produced by the water system is of questionable microbiological quality. Therefore, as a precaution, the Town of Baldwin Water Supply has issued a boil water advisory.

It is recommended that all consumers disinfect their water before consuming it (including fountain drinks), making ice, brushing teeth, or using it for food preparation or rinsing of foods by the following means: boil water for one full minute in a clean container. The one minute starts after the water has been brought to a rolling boil. (The flat taste can be eliminated by shaking the water in a clean bottle, pouring it from one clean container to another, or by adding a small pinch of salt to each quart of water that is boiled.)

The advisory is to remain in effect until further notice.
