Alexandria Police have arrested a suspect wanted in connection with a rape and kidnapping investigation earlier this month.

Alexandria Police say that on November 1, 2017, they were called out to a local hospital in reference to a rape investigation. During an investigation, detectives learned that a woman had allegedly been sexually assaulted in her home and forced to stay there with the suspect. She was then allegedly forced into the trunk of a car and battered before the suspect drove to another location. There, the victim was able to escape and contact police.

The suspect was identified as 40-year-old Edward Williams of Colfax, LA. A warrant for his arrest was issued but his whereabouts could not be determined.

On November 13, 2017, Louisiana State Police along with US Marshals Office located and arrested Williams after a short vehicle pursuit on Hwy 8 in Grant Parish. Williams fled from officers but was located and taken into custody.

Williams is facing multiple charges, the details of which will be released later. The investigation continues, and more details will follow. No information is being released on the victim.
