HOUSTON (AP) - There's something new to spot at the Houston Zoo with the debut of two jaguar cubs.

The nearly 4-month-old male and female cats, which made their first public appearances Thursday, are named Fitz and Emma. They're the first jaguars born at the Houston Zoo in a dozen years.

A Houston Zoo statement says the jaguar siblings have spent the past few months behind-the-scenes bonding with their mother, Maya. The father of the cats, born July 20, is Tesoro.

Zoo officials say the young jaguars can be seen most mornings exploring their habitat with their mom. Fitz and Emma can be out of public view in their night houses or caves.

Jaguars are known for having dark spots on their light-color coats.
