Made in Acadiana: Stuller Inc.

LAFAYETTE, La. -

Every piece of jewelry has a story, and there's a good chance that story starts in Lafayette.

Stuller, Inc. is North America's largest jewelry manufacturer. Its global headquarters is located on Rue Louis XIV in Lafayette, in a massive 600,000+ sq. ft. facility.

"We are known throughout the world for quality and service and most importantly-- friendliness and helpfulness," said founder and CEO Matt Stuller.

Stuller's interest in jewelry was sparked during high school, when he had a summer job at jewelry store. He soon saw an opportunity to start a business, and did so out of the trunk of his car.

"I'd drive around to the jewelers in Acadiana, walked in unannounced, showed them what I had, and God love them, they always wanted to help an 18-year-old kid wet behind the ears."

48 years later, Stuller is one of Acadiana's largest private companies. In 2016, Stuller Inc. reported $449-million in revenue. The company employs 1,500 people across the globe, 1,244 of which work at the Lafayette facility.

"We distribute about a quarter of a million different items out of Stuller and most of them are manufactured here," said Stuller.

The company has also evolved with a changing industry.

"The design element and the personalization and customization are really taking control of the industry," said Chief Supply Chain Manager Coby Blanchard. "The possibilities are endless."

And Stuller Inc. will continue to explore those possibilities, as the company prepares to celebrate 50 years in business. From humble beginnings, to a company recognized around the world.

"I had no idea where I was going with this thing and actually, I probably shouldn't have ever survived, with no capital and no business experience," Stuller said reflecting on his career. "But I was really determined, and I really loved and was passionate--and still am about the jewelry business."
