Williams Closes Signing Period, Picks St. John's

Greg Williams (Lafayette Christian) St. John's Basketball

LAFAYETTE -- The 2017 class 1A player of they year, Greg Williams committed to St. John's Wednesday. The 6-foot-3 guard is one of the state's top recruits. Williams said he landed on his decision Monday, the 13th. Williams wears number 13. He said St. John's was best fit for his style.

"They watched my game a lot and knew I would thrive in their system. By me going there, I saw them scrimmage, so I could pitch myself in their system," he said. "It's a good opportunity. I said before I wasn't afraid to go away, but knew eventually it could possibly happen so I felt like that we the best opportunity for me."

St. John's University is in Queens, New York. LCA opens the regular season Monday. LCA won the Division IV championship last spring. Williams is nearly averaging a triple-double for his career.

LAFAYETTE -- LCA basketball star Megan Abrams committed to play basketball at Alabama Wednesday, the first day of the fall signing period.

LCA senior basketball standout committed Wednesday to playing basketball at Alabama. Last season she was named the MVP of Marsh Madness leading her team to a state championship.
