Jeanerette Police are investigating a hit-and-run accident that left a local man without transportation.

Chad LeBlanc has cerebral palsy. He uses a customized bike to get around, but he was hit while on his bike Saturday night, friends tell KATC.

Jeanerette Police are investigating the crash, confirmed City Marshal Fernest Martin.

But in the meantime, the bike was damaged beyond repair, and it was expensive - LeBlanc's friends and family bought it for him at a cost of $2,500. Now they're trying to raise money to buy a new bike for LeBlanc, friends say.

They've set up a GoFundMe account and are trying to raise $3,500 this time to help buy an even better bike, and to replace LeBlanc's helmet, accessories, and lights, and to help a little with his medical bills.
