Unpaid Redflex violations turned over to collection agency

Posted: Updated:

If you have an outstanding traffic camera violation in Lafayette, you could soon get a notice from a debt collector. According to LCG, all unpaid violations from its now expired contract with Redflex are collectible and were sent to The Law Office of Scheer Green & Burke, a collection attorney in Ohio.

In an October 17th e-mail to council members, the Clerk of Council wrote: "If constituents receive a notice and call with questions, please refer them to the Call Center at 877-847-2338?."

In May, KATC reported that over the life of the nearly decade-long program, unpaid violations - those that are more than 121 days overdue - amount to nearly $11.9 million. LCG returns 40 percent of that money to Redflex, the dollar amount of unpaid violations accounts for more than $7 million in lost revenue for the local government, specifically the Lafayette Police Department.
