After police identified Brandon Boykin as the body found behind a business on Bertrand Drive, his friends are speaking out saying his body had been there for days and they had alerted authorities well before police responded.
A friend of Boykin's said he was missing for a week until Friday, November 3, 2017, when they say they saw him walking near a Shell gas station where they work.
"He was walking in front of the store and I seen him through the window and I was like 'hey, isn't that Brandon?' and she was like 'ya'," said Jenny Rung.
The next day, another friend of Brandon's stopped by the store and spoke with Rung. He claimed that he found Boykin Saturday and called the police.
"He found him on Saturday and he said that he called him in but the cops said that it was just some drunk guy passed out probably," said Rung.
Three days later, on Monday, November 6, 2017, Lafayette police arrived and found Boykin's body behind the CVS on Bertrand Drive. A spokesperson with the police department told KATC that this was the first time they were notified of a body in the area.
Boykin's friends say they've been left with many questions.
"It's just one big question mark that he's been gone for two days, two or three days," said Kristine Shields, a friend of Boykin's.
