Women Build project kicks off in Lafayette

Posted: Updated:
LAFAYETTE, La. -

Lafayette Habitat for Humanity is starting its two-week Women Build project.

Women around Acadiana are coming together to help build a home for one Acadiana family.

The organization is also raising donations from volunteers and sponsors to help cover the costs of construction.

The executive director for Lafayette's Habitat for Humanity tells us it will be a learning experience for everyone.

"I think they're going to take some new skills and I think they're going to take the great experience of getting to know the homeowner and getting to know more about what we're doing and this neighborhood where we're doing it," Melinda Taylor, Executive Director for Lafayette Habitat for Humanity.
