A man who died this summer is being honored tonight at the Lafayette City-Parish Council meeting.

In August, Christon Chaisson, 31, died after being shot in the parking lot of the Rosa Parks Transportation Center. Witnesses said he was shot while trying to break up an argument between a man and a woman.

Family members tell us they are asking friends and family to attend the meeting, which begins at 5:30 p.m., and wear red shirts to honor Christon.

A Kaplan man, Tyler Benoit, has been indicted on a charge of second-degree murder in the case and is awaiting trial.

KATC's Justice Henderson will have more tonight at 10.
