19th depression of the season becomes Tropical Storm Rina

On Monday, the National Hurricane Center (NHC) upgraded an area of disturbed weather in the open Atlantic as the 19th tropical depression of the season.

Late Monday, the system to strengthened Tropical Storm Rina, the 17th named storm of the season, and first "R" storm since 2012.

Rina will pose no threat to land. 

The name Rina, replaced the retired name of Hurricane Rita in 2005.

Per Colorado State hurricane forecaster Dr. Philip Klotzbach, there were 7 other years with 17+ named storms in Atlantic by November 6th: 1933, 1969, 1995, 2005, 2010, 2011, 2012.
