Posted: Updated:
FRANKLIN, La. -

The Franklin Police Department is asking for assistance in locating a drive-by-shooting suspect.

Saturday morning, officers responded to a complaint in the area of Martin Luther King Blvd. and Third St. Upon arrival, officers allegedly heard gunshots coming from a vehicle that was quickly leaving the area. A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle and the passenger, who was later identified as Gerald Sophus, exited the vehicle and fled on foot, according to police. Detectives say Sophus fired shots towards a home.

Officers made contact with the driver identified as Katyre White, who was later arrested after narcotics were allegedly found inside of the vehicle.

White, 23, of Franklin, was booked with assault by drive by shooting, possession of schedule I narcotics (marijuana) with intent to distribute, and possession of schedule II narcotics (cocaine) with intent to distribute. White was booked, processed, and released on a $25,000.00 bond.

If anyone has any information on the whereabouts of Gerald Sophus, contact the Franklin Police Department Detectives Division at (337) 828-1716.
