Home for the Holidays is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and annual project of the Acadian Home Builders Association (AHBA) and KATC-TV 3. Each year, the builder and associate members of AHBA build a brand new, state-of-the-art home which is given away in a raffle right before Christmas. Proceeds from ticket sales are dedicated to local, shelter-related charities including Lafayette Habitat for Humanity, Faith House, Healing House for Grieving Children, and St. Michael's Center for Veterans.
In addition to benefiting shelter-related charities, a small portion of the profits from Home for the Holidays funds construction technology scholarships at UL Lafayette to help train Acadiana's future builders. Each year, a small donation is also given to Professional Women in Building, an auxiliary organization of AHBA which supports the association's events throughout the year.
