OPELOUSAS, La. -

As Veterans Day approaches this November 11th, employees of the St. Landry Parish School Board who served in the military are being recognized.

On Thursday's meeting on November 2, 2017, employees who served in the U.S. Armed Forces were recognized for their service to the country.

Those veterans in attendance during the regular school board meeting received a certificate of recognition form the school board along with a veteran lapel pin and a small flag.

State Representative Dustin Miller was also on hand to express his thanks to those employees who served.

In other school board news, voters will decide on two property tax proposals in the spring. School board members voted to put those propositions on the ballot during tonight's meeting.

The money generated would be used to fund facility improvements and raises for full-time employees.
