Two arrested in narcotics bust in New Iberia

Iberia Parish deputies say that two people have been arrested after agents allegedly recovered more than four pounds of marijuana at a residence in New Iberia. 

The Iberia Parish Sheriff's Office along with Lafayette Metro Narcotics executed a search warrant at a residence on Mary Street in New Iberia on October 31, 2017. The investigation, agents say, stemmed from illegal narcotics sales. 

Agents say they allegedly recovered 4.4 pounds of marijuana along with a small, undisclosed amount of crack cocaine. 

Arrested was 66-year-old Larry Walker and 24-year-old Edward Polite. The two were allegedly found in the home and fled from police. The two were arrested after a short pursuit according to deputies. 

Walker was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Schedule I Narcotics
  • Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance within 2,000 feet of a school zone

Polite was charged with the following:

  • Possession of Schedule I Narcotics
  • Possession of Controlled Dangerous Substance within 2,000 feet of a school zone Possession of Schedule II Narcotics and Resisting Arrest by Flight 

Both subjects were booked into the Iberia Parish Jail.  Bond for Larry Walker was set at $5,000, Edward Polite $25,500.
