51st Annual Louisiana Swine Festival

Posted: Updated:

The 51st Annual Louisiana Swine Festival will begin in Basile this weekend starting on Friday, November 3 and ending on Sunday, November 5.

The festival honors Basile's history as a leader in the swine industry in Louisiana. The industry may no longer be a part of the area, but the culture and the people who worked in the industry remain. The festival, according to their website, brings in over 8,000 people to enjoy in the fun.

Pork is on the menu at this year's swine festival, as it is every year, and attendees can try several South Louisiana dishes from boudin, cracklin and everything in between.

Live entertainment will be provided by several popular Acadiana artists, like Geno Delafose, One Trick Pony, and many more.

The festival also features a Greasy Pig Contest where visiting queens, teens and children will try there luck to catch a pig doused in a little bit of grease.
