Children donate their Halloween candy to give back to troops

Posted: Updated:

Barras Family Dentistry is teaching children to give back by offering them the option of donating their leftover Halloween candy to troops overseas. Candy collected will be shipped out in care packages through the Operation Gratitude Program. The program has shipped almost 2 million care packages to soldiers; helping to boost moral and offer positive interactions with children.

"All the candy we collect, we mail back to a group that sends out support packages to the troops overseas. It's a really good opportunity for us to do something for the community and for our soldiers."

The program began on November 1 and will continue until November 10. All children and their guardians are welcomed to drop off their candy at the Barras Family Dentistry offices at 1700 Kaliste Saloom Road, Bldg 4 in Lafayette.
