Posted: Updated:

The Southwest Louisiana Swim League held their LHSAA district 1A/2A championship at the Earl J. Chris swimming complex at the Robichaux Center Tuesday afternoon. The Ascension Episcopal School Gators, led by coach Colleen Barczyk, captured the boys, girls, and combined team trophies for their school. Twelve teams with nearly 100 swimmers from all across the Acadiana region competed for the title.

Episcopal School of Acadiana's combined team took second place while Westminster Christian finished in third.  ESA and Westminster boys took second and third place respectively. On the girls side, The Academy of the Sacred Heart took second place while Westminster Christian took third.

The top two swimmers in each event were named to the All District Team. Several swimmers qualified for the Louisiana High School State Championships that will be held in Sulphur later this month.

The district championships for 3A/4A schools will be held tonight, while the 5A meet is scheduled for Thursday evening. The best swimmers from all five divisions will compete in the All League Top 24 meet on Saturday.
