A St. Landry Parish grand jury indicted two men in connection with the August 2016 murder of Rodney Joseph Savoy Jr.

Tevin Tevonte Jenkins and Tyrone Trayune Ned were each charged with one count of second-degree murder.

Savoy, 34, of Lafayette, was shot in a Nuba trailer park in August 2016. Deputies were called to the Della Drive neighborhood, and while on the line with the caller a dispatcher heard gunshots. When they arrived, deputies found Savoy dead and a pregnant woman uninjured but hiding in a closet.

Jenkins was arrested this summer, after DNA evidence allegedly linked him to the crime. To read that story, click here. Ned was arrested a month later, accused of helping Jenkins get to the trailer, and get away.

If convicted, the men face a mandatory sentence of life in prison without benefit of parole, probation or suspension of sentence.
