FRANKLIN -

A Franklin man has been indicted in the shooting death of a St. Mary Parish deputy.

Court records show that on Oct. 26, a grand jury charged 24-year-old John D. Adams II with a count of negligent homicide in the death of Jason T. Hagan.

Hagan, 24, died Dec. 8 after suffering a gunshot wound to the head, the parish coroner said at the time. Hagan was off-duty.

Since 2015, he had been working as a corrections officer at the parish jail in Centerville.
