Household Hazardous Waste Day set in St. Landry

The St. Landry Parish Solid Waste Disposal District has set a Household Hazardous Waste Day for Saturday. 

The event will be held at all St. Landry Parish Recycling Centers. 

In Opelousas, the event will be at 2717 W. Landry Street from 8 a.m. until noon. 

In Eunice, the event will be held at 450 N. C.C. Duson Street from 8:30 a.m. until noon. 

The events are open to all residents of St. Landry Parish; participants must show proof of residency - like a driver's license, water bill, etc. 

Materials accepted include: paint, auto batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, household cleaners, household chemicals, pesticides, flammables, corrosives, medications, tires (limit five per person), fluorescent tubes and bulbs, and other household hazardous products, electronic waste like computers, monitors, printers, scanners, cell phones and cell phone batteries. 

This event is for households only. Large quantities of waste from businesses farms or commercial operations will not be accepted. 

Items NOT accepted are: infectious and medical wastes, biological and radioactive materials, compressed gas cylinders, ammunition, fire extinguishers, 
smoke detectors and explosives.
