A second suspect has been arrested in connection with an October 11 shooting in St. Martinville.
U.S. Marshals arrested Andrew Smith in Venice Beach, California, a spokeswoman for the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office said.
Smith, 19, of St. Martinville, will be extradicted back to St. Martin Parish where he will be booked with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Another teen already has been booked in connection with the case.
Hunter Chauvin, 18, of Breaux Bridge was arrested and booked with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
They're both accused in the shooting of Carey Lewis III, 19, of St. Martinville, who was found October 11 suffering from gunshot wounds in a car on the Main Highway outside of St. Martinville last week. He's in critical condition in a local hospital.
During their investigation of the shooting, detectives learned the shooting happened at a house on the Main Highway in St. Martinville, a spokeswoman said.
The spokeswoman said the investigation remains ongoing and the sheriff would like to thank the U.S. Marshals Western Louisiana Violent Offenders Task Force-Lafayette Division and the California Division of the U.S. Marshals Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force-Central CA., for their assistance in apprehending Andrew Smith.
