Lake Charles man arrested, accused of rape and kidnapping

A Lake Charles man has been arrested, accused of sexually assaulting a person Monday morning. 

Lake Charles Police responded on October 23, 2017, at around 5:30 a.m., to a sexual assault incident. The suspect allegedly walked up behind the victim in the 600 block of Boston Alley while the victim was going to work. Officers were told that the suspect forced the victim to a vacant lot and was sexually assaulted. An investigation is still ongoing. 

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Orlando Demond Morris Charles, allegedly fled from police and officers gave chase. He was apprehended at the intersection of Boston Alley and Mill Street in Lake Charles. 

Charles was booked with first-degree rape and second-degree kidnapping, his bond is set at $500,000.
