Louisiana State Police have announced their participation in the "National Prescription Drug Take Back Day" scheduled for Saturday, October 28. The initiative, started by the Drug Enforcement Administration, was established to "provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposing of prescription drugs, while also educating the general public about the potential for medication abuse."

Louisiana residents can bring expired, unused, and unwanted medications to the nearest Louisiana State Police Troop location for disposal. The service is free and completely anonymous.

More information about the initiative can be found here.
