Coast Guard officials say bad weather is to blame for an incident that led to the evacuation of a platform off the coast of Cameron Parish.

On Sunday a barge, operated by Turnkey Offshore Project Services, pushed into a platform which ripped a hole in the hull, causing the boat to start taking on water. As it began to sink, 66 crew members were rescued from the barge, a spokesman said.

The hole was patched in time to stop the barge from sinking completely, a spokesman said. No injuries were reported.
