Cool Schools: Sts. Leo-Seton

Posted: Updated:

Today's COOL SCHOOL is Sts. Leo Seton Catholic School in Lafayette.

Mrs. Theriot's Kindergarten class participated in the Lafayette Fire Department's Annual Fire Prevention Poster Coloring Contest and won! Fire departments across the United States promote public awareness campaigns emphasizing "fire safety".  The theme for the poster contest was, "Every Second Counts, Plan 2 Ways Out". Students were instructed to design and decorate their class poster around the theme.

Mrs. Theriot's class was one of the winners. The Lafayette Fire Department honored her class during an awards ceremony. They received an authentic medal, firefighter helmet, and gold sticker badge along with a bag filled with fire safety goodies. Plus pizza and drinks.

Each child and their teacher went for a ride on the fire trucks, along with the Fire Chief Robert Benoit, in a parade at the ceremony.

If you have a COOL SCHOOL let us know! Send Dave Baker an email to weather@katctv.com. Put COOL SCHOOLS in the subject line. Include a picture and a short story about why your school is COOL. We do COOL SCHOOLS every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday!
