Posted: Updated:

The Vision Seekers of Evangeline Parish will host their 3rd Annual Let's Be Real Survivor's Symposium. The event is held every year by a group of diverse women in the community who are working towards the goal of educating youth on topics necessary for development and success as they grow older. The youth will hear from several survivors of life-changing events and about how their experience and perseverance has managed to bring new meaning to the lives they lead now. The event will take place at the Mamou Civic Center on Saturday, October 28. The event will begin at 9:00 am. with registration at 8:00 am.

Children ages 9 and up from the Evangeline and St. Landry Parish areas are strongly urged to attend the event. Admission to attend the event is absolutely free. There will be free food and door prizes available. Vendors will be set up for visitors to peruse. Four colleges, SLCC Ville Platte, Louisiana College in Pineville, McNeese State, and Southern University will be on hand to offer information to parents and children who are interested in learning more about how to apply for schools, gain scholarships, and more.

A door prize, a pair of customized tennis shoes to be designed in the winner's school colors, will be given away during the event. The prize has a cash value of $100.
