A judge overseeing the trial for alleged cop-killer Travis Boys has found him incompetent for trial.

The ruling comes after an incident in a courtroom, Thursday,  where Boys smeared feces on his face after a restroom break during jury selection. Proceedings were halted immediately following the incident.

According to our media partners at the Advocate, Boys will be sent to the state mental hospital in Jackson for treatment and evaluation of whether he was feigning mental illness.

Boys was on trial for the 2015 shooting death of NOPD Officer Daryle Holloway.

the Advocate reports that police said Boys was being transported to jail on June 20, 2015, to be booked for firing a gun at his wife when he shot and killed officer Holloway inside the officer's SUV. Boys then escaped and remained at large for 24 hours before his capture in the Lower 9th Ward, authorities said.
